Food

I love food, I always have. I love growing it, I love  cooking it, I love eating it, and I love preserving it for future meals. I spend a LOT of time thinking about food that I'm going to grow in the garden and preserve, or food that I'm going to cook and eat.  And there is still nothing more satisfying than wandering out into the garden and coming back with a basket full of fresh, homegrown produce and turning it into a wholesome, nutritious meal.

So I thought I'd share some of my favourite recipes for meals, deserts, sweet treats, and preserves that I make using foraged foods and garden produce.

A word of warning: I'm not big on following recipes or using exact amounts of anything, except when baking cakes (and even then I'm prone to experimentation). I'm a creative cook and I prefer to work with whatever quantities of fruit or vegetables I happen to have and I add whatever looks, feels, smells, or tastes right at the time, which can vary with the season, my mood, who's going to eat it...you get the picture. As a result I can rarely make a dish the same way twice so if you're looking for exact recipes, this is probably not the place. Instead, most of these are meant to be taken as ideas and suggestions for you to then go and get creative with and see what comes out!
